Republican Bedwetters Push Assault against Michelle Obama

This attack against Michelle Obama is just sick and pitiful:

House Republicans are pressing for a change in federal law that could force Michelle Obama and future first ladies to do more of their policy work in public. But Democrats warn President Obama may take the attempt personally “as an attack on his wife.”

The GOP effort is being led by the ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), whose initial salvo was rebuffed recently at a contentious committee markup session. Under Issa’s amendment, any government policy group that Mrs. Obama or another first spouse regularly participates in would be subject to a law requiring meetings to be announced in advance and, in most instances, public.

If Democrats had tried to do anything like this against Barbara or Laura Bush, Republican jihadists from the grassroots to Congress would have stormed the Capitol with shotguns and pitchforks. The fact that Michelle Obama has brought style and grace to the role sticks in the craw of the kinds of racist idiots who want to call the Obamas "Trash in the White House".

Face it, the Obamas are fantastic people who also happen to be black. Get over yourselves and quit attacking the first lady.

Not surprised

but I'd like a little more explanation of what this would do to the First Lady's daily appointments, time allotments, and so on. I suppose one purpose of these restrictions would be to interfere and deny her the ability to do some things at which Republicans would not like. I hope Barak does take mighty offense.

Unintended consequences might flow far and wide if such a constriction is enacted, especially if it is thus revealed that Mrs. Obama is seen as paying attention to heretofore marginalized groups, not to mention to military families. Remember, the GOP is now a regional Southern party with all its civil war baggage.

Issay Rep. Issa and his croneys

are probably out of luck, as well as out to lunch, on this one.

A "transparent" attempt at foolishness, IMHO.

GOP a Regional southern party

Teddy's comment on civil war baggage is spot on. It is what holds the south back and will continue to hold it back.

These guys just don't know when to stop digging their graves, they should be getting ready to climb in their sarcophaguses soon hopefully, and not come out, until zombie reagan is ready to lead his mummy republican army of Doom
